| Poker is undoubtedly a male dominated game, but that does not mean they own it. It is true that the majority of the best poker players in the world are male, such as Phil Ivey, Tom “Durrrr” Dwan, and Patrik Antonius, but there are more than a few women involved in world poker.
Vanessa Selbst, Vanessa Rousso, Liv Boeree, and Jennifer Harman are all female poker players who have earned millions from the game. Indeed, while they might not have the aggressive demeanour some of their male counterparts have, their ferocity at the table is just as scary.

Vanessa Selbst initially honed her skills in the online poker world’s high stakes cash games. Her knowledge of game theory and advanced strategies has set her apart from the generation of players around her.

Indeed, she has since taken her knowledge and applied it to live poker tournaments, where she has enjoyed success at major events, such as the World Series of Poker.

In contrast to Vanessa, Liv Boeree got her start in poker through a TV show. Under the tutelage of Annie Duke and Phil Hellmuth, Liv became a strong player in her own right; she has since won over £1 million on the European Poker Tour.

Not only has Liv become an icon in the poker world, she has also become one of the game’s greatest ambassadors. Her numerous appearances on mainstream TV have raised the profile of the game and attracted new players from across the world.

Women may not be as numerous as men in poker, but they are certainly as powerful. Not only can they compete with the best players in the world, but they are also fantastic representatives for the game.
